Frequently Asked Questions

I’ve got MSDE 2000 Query however I have been unable to connect to a database, any ideas why?
If you get the error message returned, “SQL Server does not exist or access denied” then it is most likely that you have got the server name incorrect. In order to get the correct server name following these instructions: (1) Click on the small Microsoft SQL Server icon that sits on the bottom right hand corner of the Task Bar. This shall start the SQL Server Service Manager dialog. (2) Copy the Server text at the top the dialog to the Windows clipboard (CTRL C). An example of the Server text is “DAVID-QH0Y9N18V\VSdotNET”. (3) Paste the Server text in the MSDE 2000 Query Remote edit box, as shown and connect. [screen shot]
